Interim is currently seeking a new Executive Director. Barbara Mitchell has been Interim’s Executive Director since 1984, and will be retiring in the Summer of 2022. Under Barbara’s leadership, Interim Inc. has become the preeminent mental health care provider in Monterey County. Interim operates the largest housing program for people with mental illness and has a wide array of services.
This is an exciting opportunity to continue to build upon the excellent reputation of Interim in the community. Partnering with the Board of Directors, the next Executive Director will assess and pursue new opportunities for growth, as well as navigate the current transformation of the California Behavioral Health system while ensuring our clients continue to receive the best possible care.

Nurses perform a variety of activities including, but not limited to administering and managing medications, conducting needs assessments to develop and maintain treatment plans, counseling clients to reach their health, recovery and rehabilitation goals, assisting clients with their physical and mental health recovery, and providing health education and advocacy to patients and their families.
Counselors perform a variety of activities including, but not limited to, case management, medication assistance, development of treatment plans and goals, counseling and skills building, assisting clients with managing their mental health symptoms. They may also assist clients in establishing recreation, education, employment and other daily community engagement.
Behavioral Health Clinicians perform a variety of activities including, but not limited to, providing group and adjunct psychotherapy, individual counseling, therapy and motivational interviewing, conducting client needs assessments, and assisting clients in the self-management of their symptoms. They assist clients in achieving their rehabilitation and recovery goals.
