For more than 50 years, Maureen Lavengood has been part of Interim’s story. Now, we are proud to recognize her as our 2026 Interim Legacy Award honoree.
Maureen was among Interim’s founding Board members in 1975, helping shape an early vision rooted in dignity, community, and better support for people living with serious mental illness. Her commitment continued throughout her career with Monterey County Behavioral Health and, following retirement, took on another important form: preparing the next generation of social workers.
As a field instructor and mentor, Maureen has supported 66 Master of Social Work (MSW) interns at Interim, many of whom have gone on to careers in behavioral health, including leadership roles within Interim. Her dedication to social work education earned her national recognition as the 2024 Heart of Social Work Award recipient.
From helping establish Interim to mentoring many of the professionals carrying this work forward today, Maureen’s impact spans generations.
Please join us in celebrating Maureen and her remarkable contribution to Interim and our community at The Hoedown: Island Style on October 24. Visit Our Event Page
