The Hoedown: Island Style, inspired by the spirit of paniolo, Hawaii’s proud ranching tradition, brings our community together for an evening of connection, celebration, and impact for Marina Kai Apartments, Interim’s newest affordable housing development.
Featuring dinner, entertainment, storytelling, and auction experiences, the evening celebrates community while helping advance housing, healing, and hope for adults living with serious mental illness in Monterey County. It also offers a memorable way to gather, give back, and take part in one of the season’s standout Monterey events.
Interim is the only nonprofit in Monterey County that provides housing and supportive services for adults living with mental illness. Funds raised from the event make it possible for us to continue building affordable housing and provide on-going supportive services for our 18 housing locations, including over 300 beds, as well as employment and wellness services. By donating to and/or sponsoring this event, you are supporting the healing journeys of those we serve.
Proceeds will directly support Marina Kai Apartments, Interim’s newest affordable supportive housing project, anticipated for completion in spring 2027.
Currently in the pre-development phase, Marina Kai is being developed to provide safe, stable housing for very low-income adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and living with psychiatric disabilities. The project will replace an existing four-unit building with a new three-story development featuring 23 studio apartments and one resident manager unit, creating more opportunities for stability, recovery, and a place to call home.
Becoming a sponsor for this event offers a meaningful way to invest in affordable housing, mental health support, and long-term community impact. Proceeds from the event will support Marina Kai Apartments, Interim’s newest affordable supportive housing project.
Choose from several sponsorship levels designed to support Marina Kai Apartments while recognizing your organization’s partnership before, during, and after the event.

Step into an evening where island hospitality meets western charm. Inspired by Hawaii’s paniolo tradition, the Hoedown: Island Style brings together the spirit of aloha, community, and stewardship in support of a cause that changes lives.
The evening begins with a festive reception featuring island-inspired appetizers, opportunities to browse our silent auction, and time to connect with fellow supporters. Guests will then enjoy a delicious luau buffet dinner prepared by Fire 4 Hire Catering, traditional hula performances, music, and a lively program celebrating the progress and promise of Marina Kai Apartments.
Throughout the evening, we will honor community leaders through the inaugural Interim Legacy Awards, share stories of hope and transformation, and invite guests to participate in exciting live and silent auctions. Whether you come for the cause, the camaraderie, or the celebration, you will be part of an unforgettable evening dedicated to creating pathways home for some of Monterey County’s most vulnerable residents.
I actually prefer the second version for the website. It reads more like an invitation and less like an event summary. It also naturally incorporates the food, entertainment, awards, auctions, and mission without feeling like a bullet list.
