Interim Opens Hope Housing Program

a group of people sitting in a roomEarlier this year, Interim, Inc., in partnership with Monterey County Behavioral Health and Sun Street Centers, started serving clients in Hope Housing. This housing is geared towards those who are homeless and experiencing the need for specialty mental health services, especially those individuals referred through CARE court.

Interim is providing a range of wrap-around supportive services designed to fostering stability, empowerment, and successful community integration. Interim currently has 12 clients at Hope Housing and is offering 8 groups per week.  Groups include Healthy Communication, Healthy Choices, Process Group, Mindfulness, and Creative Expressions.

The Community Assistance, Recovery and Empowerment (CARE) Act went live in Monterey County on December 1, 2024, offering a new pathway to provide mental health treatment and support services to eligible individuals (adults aged 18+) with untreated schizophrenia spectrum or other psychotic disorders who are not currently engaged in voluntary treatment. With referrals coming in from Care Court in the coming months, we look forward to expanding mental health services to those who need them in this new housing program. This multifaceted approach to recovery and wellness helps create a supportive environment where participants learn the skills they need to improve their quality of life and transition to permanent housing. It really takes a village!Â
