Join us for a Free Seminar on Special Needs Trusts!

Providing for people with mental illness or another disability can be challenging for family members, friends, and professionals. That’s why Interim is partnering with the Monterey College of Law to offer a seminar on Special Needs Trusts. A Special Needs Trust is a unique tool that allows a loved one to provide resources for someone receiving public benefits without jeopardizing them.

This seminar will discuss legal strategies to improve the quality of life for family members with disabilities while protecting assets intended for their benefit, including the establishment of a special needs trust, and the important role of a fiduciary in administering trust assets.

Stephen W. Dale, Esq., LL.M Attorney and Counselor at Law – Dale Law Firm

Stephen W. Dale received his JD from Armstrong Law School and his LL.M. in Taxation from Golden Gate University. His law firm is dedicated to providing quality estate planning to clients by working cooperatively with the clients’ tax, financial and insurance professionals.

Mr. Dale is a disability rights advocate and spends much of his time attending disability rights activities, including legislative hearings and serving on boards and committees of disability-right’s organizations. Additionally, Mr. Dale is a long standing member of the Special Needs Alliance, a national, not for profit organization of attorneys dedicated to the practice of disability and public benefits law.

Mr. Dale regularly teaches courses to the public, financial professionals, and other attorneys on special needs trusts and trust administration with a special emphasis on achieving independence while maintaining essential government benefits. He also offers benefits and estate planning courses to his clients as well as administration workshops for professional trustees. Steve has received accreditation for his professional courses by the California Department of Insurance and the California State Bar.

Frank Hespe, Esq. – Nicora and Hespe, LLP

Frank Hespe, Esq. graduated with a J.D. degree from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley. He was also graduated and earned his B.A., summa cum laude, from Rutgers University. Since 2009 he has become a Partner of Law Offices of Nicora and Hespe LLP, focusing on Probate, Trusts, Estate Planning, Conservatorships and Business Law.

Frank Hespe has been an attorney for over 20 years. Prior to returning to the Monterey Peninsula, Mr. Hespe worked for the American Bar Association in a number of different positions over a four year period, including Legal Specialist, Country Director and Regional Director in such places as Qatar, Azerbaijan, and the Central Asian nations of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

Before his work abroad, from 2002 to 2005, Mr. Hespe served as Dean of the Monterey College of Law, after previously working there for 12 years as an Adjunct Professor of International Law and the Director of Clinical Studies Program. From 1993 to 2001, he served as the Executive Director of Legal Services for Seniors, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting low income senior citizens in Monterey County.
