Interim Inc. celebrated its staff with its annual awards presentation at a special outdoor event attended by more than 175 people, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at the Monterey County Fair and Event Center in Monterey.
Years of Service Awards, Service Excellence Awards and the Corey Miller Award were presented at the Event Center’s Payton Stage, with carnival-themed goodies and food provided by Tarpy’s Roadhouse in Monterey.
The Exceptional Service Award recipient was Steve Margaretten, who was selected by his peers for setting examples of hard work, initiative, and enthusiasm. This award is presented as recognition of their willingness to perform above and beyond the call of duty and is specifically for staff members who do not work directly with clients.
“Steve from I.T. is always working diligently. He may come to the Annex for one problem, but he always makes sure that no one else has issues,” said one of the staff, in presenting him the award. “He checks in with everyone. He really goes above and beyond to get the issue resolved. I would like to nominate Steve Margaretten, our beloved ‘IT’ guy for this award. I don’t know anything about Steve’s past, I just know that when I need ANYTHING concerning my computer, I can call on him and he comes over and fixes it, with alacrity and good humor. Steve continues the Interim tradition of employing great IT workers who help us all succeed.”
The Corey Miller Award recipient was Idalia Matthews. Recipients for this award were selected by their peers for setting examples of hard work, enthusiasm, compassion, dedication and outstanding service to Interim and adults with psychiatric disabilities in Monterey County. This award recognizes staff members who do work directly with clients.
“Idalia is an excellent supervisor. She is calm and patient with staff and clients. She is encouraging, and always looking out for the welfare of the staff and clients. She is really good at motivating people,” said one staff member
“Over the past 15 years, Idalia has been a valuable asset to the SEES program and Interim as a whole,” added one of the staff to explain why she nominated her. “Her love for the job demonstrates her devotion and loyalty to the agency and its mission. Idalia can always be relied on to do the job and more. She has stepped in to facilitate agency training and co-facilitate the Wellness Conference. She treats her staff with professionalism and fosters a positive work climate. Idalia will not wait for someone to request assistance; if she notices that someone requires assistance, she will step in. Staff feel confident that they can count on Idalia. Idalia exemplifies leadership by being a compassionate and modest leader who is constantly looking for personal development.”
Barbara Mitchell, Executive Director of Interim, Inc., and Board President Diana Rosenthal, presented the awards at the event.
