Supporting the Next Generation of Mental Health Providers
Through clinical supervision and mentorship, Interim, Inc. plays an active role in mental health workforce development by supporting pre-licensed clinicians on their path to licensure.
For Teresa Brunson, mental health work was never just a profession; it was a calling. By middle school, she already knew she wanted to be a therapist. That clarity led to nearly four decades in the field, including work in schools, private practice, psychiatric hospitals, and county mental health services.
Teresa joined Interim, Inc. in 2015. Today, she serves as Clinical Services Director, where she oversees a network of behavioral health clinicians supporting programs like day treatment, case coordination, and crisis residential care. She also plays a pivotal role in mentoring pre-licensed clinicians, helping them navigate the 3,000 supervised hours required for licensure.
“It’s been incredible to watch students move from intern to licensed clinician to program director,” she shares. “They bring new energy and deep compassion to the work.”
Mentorship with Meaning
Teresa’s joy in watching others grow reflects the heart of her purpose: to help people discover their potential and purpose, even in the midst of struggle.
Her approach mirrors Interim’s commitment to fostering pathways of recovery and empowerment, not just treatment.
What first drew Teresa to Interim was its psychosocial rehabilitation model, an approach that integrates clinical care with community context and client voice. Her own academic background in both psychology and sociology made this a natural fit. “Interim doesn’t just treat the diagnosis,” she says. “We consider the whole person and their environment, culture, and strengths.”
A Human-Centered Approach to Healing
Teresa believes healing happens within relationships and community. It’s not only about symptom reduction, it is about restoring dignity, connection, and hope.
Amid daily supervision, program meetings, and clinical consultations, Teresa says the work remains deeply rewarding even on the most unpredictable days. “There’s never enough time, but the impact we get to make is real.”
That impact is what keeps her grounded. Each conversation, each breakthrough, each small step forward reminds her, and those she mentors, that meaningful change takes time and heart.
Now a foundational leader in Interim’s clinical direction, she continues shaping a culture rooted in reflection, empathy, and integrity.
“This work becomes part of who you are,” Teresa says. “And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Her words reflect not only personal conviction but also the spirit of Interim itself; a place where compassion meets professionalism, and where recovery is nurtured through understanding and human connection.
“We meet people where they are and help them grow into the best version of themselves.”
