The year 2025 was a productive and successful year for Interim, with an emphasis on celebration and appreciation, as we reflected on our 50-year history of serving Monterey County and the many individuals, organizations, and partners who have shaped what Interim has become.
As with each new year, we enter 2026 with renewed energy and commitment to advance Interim’s mission. We remain focused on serving adults living with mental illness by providing quality services, improving access to care, and expanding supportive and affordable housing for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness. 2026 will prove to be a challenging one from a funding and services perspective.
Â
Fiscal constraints across State and Federal levels, along with policy shifts, continue to impact the behavioral health and housing landscape. Even so, Interim will continue to navigate any uncharted waters with innovation and creativity, diligence and steadfastness, and hard work and compassion. We will do so in close collaboration with our partner agencies, Interim’s leadership and workforce and, most importantly, the individuals we are privileged to serve.
Despite anticipated changes, Interim will continue to operate from a space grounded in resilience, service, and hope. We remain steadfast in our commitment to providing safety, stability, and dignity to some of our community’s most vulnerable individuals. We also remain deeply appreciative of our peers, talented workforce, dedicated volunteers, and generous donors and supporters who help ensure Interim continues to be a trusted community resource that enriches the lives of our neighbors.
Looking Ahead: Marina Kai Apartments and the Future of Housing
This year, we are especially excited to begin planning for the groundbreaking of Interim’s newest permanent, supportive, and affordable housing development: Marina Kai Apartments! Marina Kai symbolizes the advocates and trailblazers who established Interim, the realization of the vision that has guided Interim for decades, and the power of collaboration among donors, supporters, and agencies working together toward housing, healing, and hope.
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, and fulfilling year ahead.
