The holidays are always a busy, and special, time of year at Interim!
The OMNI Resource Center celebrated their annual birthday on December 8th. Eighty people attended this festive event and celebrated with games, burritos from El Charrito and of course, CUPCAKES!
Each year, we distribute bags of stocking stuffers across many of our programs, ensuring that our clients know much they are appreciated! This year, we distributed about 275 bags! Generous donors provided warm socks, flashlights, personal care items, blankets or towels, Subway sandwich cards and other goodies to fill bright green Interim, Inc. gift bags for our clients. Volunteer elves Dayna and Allie Doss (daughters of Interim staff member Karin Doss) and Alyssa Wood, (daughter of staff member Yuko Wood) helped assemble most of the bags! Thank you to Tommy Hilfiger Outlet in Gilroy for also contributing to this effort, donating bags they assembled with their designer brand items! Thank you to Saint Moritz sweater shop in Carmel for the beautiful sweaters for our Community Housing residents, donated earlier this year! “It was nice to receive the gift bag from Interim. I appreciate how they remember us residents during the holidays. Tell the staff thank you for me.” (a resident from Horizons Apartments).
While the majority of our programs serve single adults, a number of our clients have young children or grandchildren. Many of our residents have extremely low incomes which make gift giving to their young children and grandchildren impossible during the holiday season. Interim Staff members and others donate funds to purchase Target gift cards which are given to residents with young family members, so there will be a gift under the tree from mom, dad, grandma or grandpa. Interim Staff Member Susan Brier works hard every December to organize gift cards for these residents. This year, funds were donated to provide gift cards for 143 children or grandchildren of Interim clients!
Staff let loose at the annual holiday party on December 12th! We’ve got a lot to celebrate. We keep growing and now have about 200 staff across 15 programs!
The OMNI Center in Salinas hosted its annual dinners for clients on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Roast turkey, ham, and all the trimmings were served to over 90 people at each of the dinners. Many staff members donated food, as well as time to serve dinner to our guests. Thank you to Lisa Corpus, OMNI Administrator for organizing this event. Special thanks to Granite construction for supporting this effort with a generous donation!
