Interim is nearing the fundraising goal for the new Bridge House facility. Construction began March 27th. The Bridge House program, currently operating in Monterey, will begin serving adults with a mental illness and a substance use disorder (dual-diagnosis) at the new and expanded home in Marina in the spring of 2018. The new facility will serve an estimated 70 people per year.
To date, we have raised $4,063,939 of our total project cost of $4,228,663, leaving us with $164,694 in remaining need. We still need your help!
Expanded treatment services for people with a mental illness and a substance use disorder is a priority community need identified by the Monterey County Behavioral Health Bureau. Forty-five percent of people in the adult system of care have a dual-diagnosis. Successful treatment programs serving dual-diagnosis individuals save the public health system a lot of money in the long run. Ultimately, expanding treatment and affordable housing options for this population is a good community investment.
The Central Coast Alliance for Health awarded Interim a $2.5 million grant to support this project. The new Bridge House facility is also being supported by the California Health Facilities Financing Authority (loan), Monterey County Community Development Block Grant funds, the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, the Harden Foundation, the Community Foundation for Monterey County, and other community donors.
