Located at the former Fort Ord, housing is provided in nine four-bedroom units and two two-bedroom units. Residents have private bedrooms and share the common living areas. Dinner meal service is provided daily for all residents in a community room/dining hall. Residents pay 30% of their income as rent and pay a fee for meal service. The maximum length of stay is two years.
Residents prepare their own breakfast and lunches, do their own shopping, budgeting and laundry, as well as care for their units. Residents must be responsible for and handle their medications. Shelter Cove staff are available at the project seven days per week, however, the project is not staffed 24 hours/day. Staff provides case management and mental health services and assists residents to learn social and daily living skills.
There are daily groups available for residents who are in need of more structure and treatment. There is a Registered Nurse on staff to assist with medical, as well as psychological issues during the week. In addition, there is a resident manager available at night for emergencies.
