Interim's mission is to provide services and affordable housing supporting members of our community
with mental illness in building productive and satisfying lives.

Employment Services

For all of us, the work we do is a very important part of who we are. Helping adults with mental illness develop a meaningful work or school life is the goal of Interim’s Employment Services programs. We provide a wide range of supportive employment programs for our clients, for adults with mental illness who are living independently, and for family and friends who support them. Support services include career, vocational, and educational counseling, résumé development, budgeting, and interview coaching, just to name a few.

To build their employment skills, many of our clients volunteer in the community or work directly for Interim. Forty-eight of our clients work for Interim as community support workers (peer counselors), kitchen assistants, administrative assistants, janitorial staff, and gardening and maintenance staff. In the fall of 2010, Interim was named an Employer of the Year by the Monterey County Committee for the Employment of People with Disabilities (MCCEPD) for our success employing adults with disabilities. This followed on the heels of our December 2009 recognition as an Employer of the Year by the State Department of Rehabilitation for our success hiring or finding employment for adults with disabilities!
